lineout edinburgh - glasgow

it may not seem immediately obvious to the multudes of tourists who flock to scotland's capital for castle views and tartan souvenirs, but edinburgh is undergoing a period of enormous change. the opening of the new scottish parliament, with its new premises designed by eric miralles currently under construction on a site opposite the ancient palace of holyrood, represents a profound shift in the city's sense of itself. ...

... edinburgh has always considered itself to be a capital city, a claim which sometimes seemed an empty boast beside glasgow's industrial bustle. a new parliament, as yet all hope and little experience, has placed an optimistic heart back into the city. we shall see in the first few years of the next millenium just how much this will affect artists working in the city.
